Osteopathy for Babies

Osteopathic treatment for babies focuses on supporting the healthy development and function of the musculoskeletal system.

By gently restoring mobility to muscles, ligaments, and joints, treatment may help to ease discomfort and promote improvements in feeding, sleeping, and overall well-being.

Treatment may involve soft tissue techniques such as gentle massage and cranial osteopathy to soothe musculoskeletal, gastro-intestinal and nervous systems; all carefully tailored to your baby’s needs. Cranial osteopathy is a gentle and subtle approach well-suited to infants, whose bodies often require only the lightest encouragement to find a more comfortable and balanced state.

Your osteopath may also offer supportive guidance on posture, movement, or feeding positions to complement the treatment and assist your baby’s ongoing development.

What can osteopathy help with for babies and toddlers?
  • Post-natal check ups
  • Difficulty settling
  • Body tension from a difficult pregnancy and/or birth
  • Releasing jaw tension associated with tongue ties
  • General aches and pains
  • Constipation
  • Feeding difficulties
  • Flat head syndrome (plagiocephaly)
What will happen during my baby’s first appointment?

During your baby’s first appointment, the osteopath will take a detailed history, including information about the pregnancy, birth, and your child’s general health. A gentle physical examination will then be carried out to assess joint mobility, reflexes, and muscle tone.

If osteopathy is likely to benefit your baby, with your consent they will then receive treatment.

“I absolutely love Yasmin here – she knows so well her job, very professional osteopath. Highly recommend to anyone. We, both me and my child received professional treatment.”
